Adapted from a famous painting by Betzalel artist Ze'ev Raban in the beginning of the 20th century this magnificent tapestry uses a contemporary approach to weaving. Two pillars in shades of brown and tan support an arch framing the domed and arched buildings of the Old City of Jerusalem, depicted in shades of tan, brown, subtle blue, dusty pink and olive green. Two brown deer surrounded by crimson pomegrantes adorn the lintel of the arch. Two tawny lions crouch at the base of the pillars. Hebrew letters woven in an Art Nouveau style proclaim: "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem..." from Psalm 122. The harmony of colors and shapes produces a feeling of balance reflecting the lofty ideas expressed in the Psalm. This brilliant work of Judaica art can be used as a Mizrach for the home or synagogue.
