The shape of the whole Chanukiah is based on the traditional design of the menorah in the ancient Temple of Jerusalem (as depicted in the Titus Arch). But the curving and pierced design elements depart from the tradition only to enhance it with exhuberent movement. The whole sculpture vibrates with vitality; it is truly a Tree of Life.
